A Wild Meeting at the Russeville Fire Station happened Today.

3 local restaurants with great food just closed their doors!!! All of them seemed to be doing well, but clearly something wasn't working.

I just got back from a meeting at the fire station, and honestly? It was wild in the best way possible.

The meeting was for the 75 Strong initiative, an Arkansas Economic Development Commission program that Danielle Housenick from Main Street Russellville is running here in town. She's going through a three-year certification program, and part of that involves mapping out the entrepreneurial resources we have in Russellville—what's working, what challenges we're facing, and what opportunities are out there.

What Made It Click

The turnout might have been smaller than expected, but that just turned it into this great conversational space where everyone could actually learn what each other has going on.

And my big takeaway? Resources and growth initiatives are siloed throughout our community.

That's not a criticism of anyone. It's just reality. One person knows about funding opportunities. Another knows about training programs. Someone else has connections at Arkansas Tech or the Chamber. But nobody has the complete picture, and that disconnect makes it harder for local businesses to get the help they need.

When the conversation turned to how Danielle plans to survey local entrepreneurs, it became clear how much we're all wrestling with the same basic questions: What's the best way to reach people? How long should a survey be? How do you actually get people to complete it?

These aren't small details. They're the difference between getting useful information and wasting everyone's time.

Why This Matters Right Now

3 local restaurants with great food just closed their doors!!! All of them seemed to be doing well, but clearly something wasn't working.

And that's the thing—when national chains move in, they bring the dopamine hit of familiar brands and fast service. But they're not rooted here. They go where the money goes. If the nuclear plant shuts down decades from now, or if Higher Education changes significantly, those chains will leave. And our community, will be gutted.

The businesses that will still be here are the ones with actual roots in this community. And to build those roots, we need to know each other. We need structured ways to support one another and share resources.

Getting Involved

The 75 Strong Coalition is free to join, and it's specifically designed to help local entrepreneurs and businesses connect with each other and with the resources they need to thrive.

If you're a business owner or entrepreneur in Russellville and want to be part of this, reach out to Danielle Housenick at Main Street Russellville. The meetings are exactly what you'd want them to be: practical, conversational, and focused on real problems we're all facing.

💡
Once the survey is ready, I will be emailing that out to people who want it. It's just some questions they have for local business owners - and it'll loop you into this coalition!

My Question To You:

What if we had a simple way to keep these conversations going between meetings—a place where entrepreneurs could share what they're learning, ask questions, and actually coordinate with each other? How would that change things for local businesses in the Russellville-area?
